Following Recca's surprise win over EnVyUs, we interviewed the long-standing team member Baskoro "roseau" Dwi Putra.

The Indonesian side made it through the first group stage by being the better team round difference-wise in a three-way tie, edging out Limitless and Isurus.

Recca have had issues closing out games

In the second group, Recca had somewhat tougher opposition, and lost a crucial game to MVP PK at the start of the day. However, they still took a map of Envy later on, putting the French team in a tough situation moving forward.

Can you walk me through the roster you have here, obviously xccurate is playing with you now and he is a member of TyLoo?

For WESG we didn't practice with xccurate at all, we only practiced with our main roster. We don't have a lot prepared because of it, we only used our old tactics since we never played together since Kevin joined TyLoo. During WESG, we have Kevin sometimes calling in-game, and I'm the second caller.

You struggled closing out games at this tournament. In the first map against MVP, against Limitless as well. What was the struggle there?

I think we should've won that match against MVP, but sometimes a small mistake, like one that happened in the round we had three people in connector, but one of our teammates made a mistake and the round was lost. After that, we lost the following one and the momentum as well. Versus Limitless, we were already at 15 rounds and they came back again.

Is closing out games something you struggled with before this tournament as well?

Yes. I don't know why. Everytime we play, when we reach 14 or 15 rounds, we always choke. I don't know why, maybe it's a curse or something like that.

Tell me about the match against EnVyUs and how it went from your perspective.

First, on T side Cobblestone I felt that every tactic, whatever we do, we all die. We only got about three rounds on the T side, because of the pistol and some ecos we won. And then, I don't know, as CT, we won round by round and we almost made a comeback on Cobblestone.

On the second map, we just played our gameplay, I don't know. We didn't watch them at all, we just played our game and I'm just surprised we won.

After you lost the first three maps of the day, was then playing on Train against EnVyUs a no pressure situation? Was that something you had going your way?

For me, there was no pressure, I just played as usual, my game. And xccurate played very well, he showed his class and great AWPing. He won the important rounds for us.

Now that you have this win against EnVyUs, is that something that is going to boost your morale going forward and playing in the Asian scene as well?

I think this gives me and my team more experience. We gained experience here and my motivation is boosted, as well as the morale.

A lot of talent from the SEA region is moving to China, two of your former teammates went to TyLoo, kaze went to Flash. So how is the scene right now, is it an issue that a lot of good players are moving away?

I think there are still a lot of good players in this region, players from Thailand, that play for Signature, for example, are good.

ESL have made a division for Asia and Australia which will give a spot at the Pro League Finals, how will that impact you guys particularly?

I'm very happy about it, because the CS:GO scene is expanding to Asia and we are invited. Hopefully this will make the SEA scene even bigger.

From what you played so far, what are your takeaways and what do you think about what you showed at the event?

I'm happy with what we have done, but I'm thinking that after this we aren't going to be playing with xccurate anymore, so we need to improve our individual skill and teamplay after this event. For this tournament, I'm glad we could beat EnVy, especially since we didn't practice at all with Kevin.
